In the Name of the Father, And the Son, And the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
Hail, Mary! Full of grace, The Lord is with thee; Blessed are thou among women, And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, Now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descend ed to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
O Lord, help me to examine fully the sins I have committed today in thought, word, and deed, and through any unfulfilled duty, and make me aware of those faults that have become habits. Amen.
1. I am the Lord your God;
you shall not have strange gods before Me.
2. You shall not take the Name of the Lord your God in vain.
3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's day.
4. Honor your father and your mother.
5. You shall not kill.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
7. You shall not steal.
8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.
9. You shall not covet your neighbour's wife.
10. You shall not covet your neighbour's goods.
I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Saviour Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In His name, my God, have mercy. Amen.
Act of Faith (½Å´ö¼Û) O my God, I firmly believe all the truths that the holy catholic Church believes and teaches. Grant that I may love you more and more in this life, and in the next for all eternity. Amen.

O Joseph, virgin-father of Jesus, most pure Spouse of the Virgin Mary, pray every day for us to the same Jesus, the Son of God, that we, being defended by the power of His grace and striving dutifully in life, may be crowned by Him at the hour of death. Amen.
My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour, Because He hath regarded the humility of His handmaid: for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed; Because He that is mighty, has done great things to me; and Holy is His Name. And His mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear Him. He has shewed might in His Arm: He has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He has cast down the mighty from their seat, and has exalted the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent empty away. He has received Israel, His servant, mindful of His mercy. As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed, for ever. Oh God, grant that this creature (water) may be endowed with Divine grace to drive away devils and to cast out diseases, that whatever, in the houses or posessions of the faithful may be sprinkled by this water, may be freed from everything unclean, and delivered from what is hurtful. Let everything that threatens the peace or safety of the dwellers therein, be banished by the sprinkling of this water; so that the health that they seek by calling upon Thy Holy Name may be guarded from assault.
Oh dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, I give You my whole heart. I see Your Heart on fire for love of me. I want to be in this fiery furnace and know the love of God. Take me, Jesus. Use me as Your little servant to spread Your love to this world. I give myself entirely to You and I ask the Holy Spirit to make me more like You. I want to be a little child of the Father. I give You my heart, keep me in Your Heart and teach me Your way of love. Amen
O Mary, Virgin most powerful and Mother of mercy, Queen of Heaven and Refuge of sinners, we consecrate ourselves to thine Immaculate Heart. We consecrate to thee our very being and our whole life; all that we have, all that we love, all that we are. To thee we give our bodies, our hearts and our souls; to thee we give our homes, our families, our country. We desire that all that is in us and around us may belong to thee, and may share in the benefits of thy motherly benediction. And that this act of consecration may be truly efficacious and lasting, we renew this day at thy feet the promises of our Baptism and our first Holy Communion. We pledge ourselves to profess courageously and at all times the truths of our holy Faith, and to live as befits Catholics who are duly submissive to all the directions of the Pope and the Bishops in communion with him. We pledge ourselves to keep the commandments of God and His Church, in particular to keep holy the Lord's Day. We likewise pledge ourselves to make the consoling practices of the Christian religion, and above all, Holy Communion, an integral part of our lives, in so far as we shall be able so to do. Finally, we promise thee, O glorious Mother of God and loving Mother of men, to devote ourselves whole-heartedly to the service of thy blessed cult, in order to hasten and assure, through the sovereignty of thine Immaculate Heart, the coming of the kingdom of the Sacred Heart of thine adorable Son, in our own hearts and in those of all men, in our country and in all the world, as in heaven, so on earth. Amen.
2 Save me, O God: for the waters have come in even unto my soul. 3 I stick fast in the mire of the deep and there is no sure standing. My enemies are grown strong who have wrongfully persecuted me: then did I pay that which I took not away. 6 O God, you know my foolishness; and my offences are not hidden from you: 7 Let not them be ashamed for me, who look for you, O Lord, the Lord of hosts. Let them not be confounded on my account, who seek you, O God of Israel. 8 Because for your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face. 9 I have become a stranger to my brethren, and an alien to the sons of my mother. 10 For the zeal of your house has eaten me up: and the reproaches of them that reproached you are fallen upon me. 11 And I covered my soul in fasting: and it was made a reproach to me. 12 And I made haircloth my garment: and I became a byword to them. 13 They that sat in the gate spoke against me: and they that drank wine made me their song. 14 But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord; for the time of your good pleasure, O God. In the multitude of your mercy hear me, in the truth of your salvation. 15 Draw me out of the mire, that I may not stick fast: deliver me from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters. 16 Let not the tempest of water drown me, nor the deep water swallow me up: and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me. 17 Hear me, O Lord, for your mercy is kind; look upon me according to the multitude of your tender mercies. 18 And turn not away your face from your servant: for I am in trouble, hear me speedily. 19 Attend to my soul, and deliver it: save me because of my enemies. 20 You know my reproach, and my confusion, and my shame. 21 In your sight are all they that afflict me; my heart has expected reproach and misery. And I looked for one that would grieve together with me, but there was none: and for one that would comfort me, and I found none. 22 And they gave me gall for my food, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. 23 Let their table become as a snare before them, and a recompense, and a stumbling block. 24 Let their eyes be darkened that they see not; and their back bend down always. 25 Pour out your indignation upon them: and let your wrathful anger take hold of them. 26 Let their habitation be made desolate: and let there be none to dwell in their tabernacles. 27 Because they have persecuted him whom you have smitten; and they have added to the grief of my wounds. 28 Add iniquity upon their iniquity: and let them not come into your justice. 29 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living; and with the just let them not be written. 30 But I am poor and sorrowful: your salvation, O God, has set me up. 31 I will praise the name of God with a canticle: and I will magnify him with praise. 32 And it shall please God better than a young calf, that brings forth horns and hoofs. 33 Let the poor see and rejoice: seek God, and your soul shall live. 34 For the Lord has heard the poor: and has not despised his prisoners. 35 Let the heavens and the earth praise him; the sea, and everything that creeps therein. 36 For God will save Sion, and the cities of Juda shall be built up. And they shall dwell there, and acquire it by inheritance. 37 And the seed of his servants shall possess it; and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
Almighty and everlasting God, behold I come to the Sacrament of Thine only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ: I come as one infirm to the physician of life, as one unclean to the fountain of mercy, as one blind to the light of everlasting brightness, as one poor and needy to the Lord of heaven and earth. Therefore I implore the abundance of Thy measureless bounty that Thou wouldst vouchsafe to heal my infirmity, wash my uncleanness, enlighten my blindness, enrich my poverty and clothe my nakedness, that I may receive the Bread of Angels, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, with such reverence and humility, with such sorrow and devotion, with such purity and faith, with such purpose and intention as may be profitable to my soul¡¯s salvation. Grant unto me, I pray, the grace of receiving not only the Sacrament of our Lord¡¯s Body and Blood, but also the grace and power of the Sacrament. O most gracious God, grant me so to receive the Body of Thine only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, which He took from the Virgin Mary, as to merit to be incorporated into His mystical Body, and to be numbered amongst His members. O most loving Father, give me grace to behold forever Thy beloved Son with His face at last unveiled, whom I now purpose to receive under the sacramental veil here below. Amen.
We praise Thee, O God: We acknowledge Thee to be the Lord. All the earth doth worship Thee And the Father everlasting. To Thee all Angels: To Thee the heavens and all the Powers therein. To Thee the Cherubim and Seraphim: Cry with unceasing voice: Holy, Holy, Holy: Lord God of Hosts. The heavens and the earth are full: Of the majesty of Thy glory. Thee the glorious choir: Of the Apostles. Thee the admirable company: Of the Prophets. Thee the white-robed army of Martyrs: Praise. Thee the Holy Church throughout all the world: Doth acknowledge. The Father of infinite Majesty. Thine adorable, true: And only Son. Also the Holy Ghost: The Paraclete. Thou art the King of Glory: O Christ. Thou art the everlasting Son: Of the Father. Thou having taken upon Thee to deliver man: Didst not abhor the Virgin¡¯s womb. Thou having overcome the sting of death: Didst open to believers the kingdom of heaven. Thou sittest at the right hand of God: In the glory of the Father. We believe that Thou shalt come: To be our Judge. We beseech Thee, therefore, help Thy servants: Whom Thou has redeemed with Thy precious Blood. Make them to be numbered with Thy Saints: In glory everlasting. Lord, save Thy people: And bless Thine inheritance. Govern them: and lift them up forever. Day by day: we bless Thee. And we praise Thy name forever: And world without end. Vouchsafe, O Lord, this day: To keep us without sin. Have mercy on us, O Lord: Have mercy on us. Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us: As we have hoped in Thee. O Lord, in Thee have I hoped: Let me never be confounded.
Heavenly Father, be pleased to bless and protect our Holy Father, Pope ____________________, whom you have chosen as the successor of St. Peter as the chief minister of unity and charity in the Church. Keep him safe in holiness of life and in wise fulfillment of his awesome responsibilities. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Jesus, Good Shepherd, You sent us the Holy Spirit to guide Your Church and lead her faithful to You through the ministry of Your priests. Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, grant to Your priests wisdom in leading, faithfulness in teaching, and holiness in guarding Your sacred Mysteries. As they cry out with all the faithful, "Abba, Father!" may Your priests be ever more closely identified with You in Your Divine Sonship and offer their own lives with You, the one saving Victim. Make them helpful brothers of one another, and understanding fathers of all Your people. On this Pentecost Sunday, renew in Your priests deeper faith, greater trust in You, childlike reliance on our Mother Mary, and unwavering fidelity to the Holy Father and his bishops. Holy Mary, intercede for your priests. St. Joseph, protect them. St. Michael, defend them. St. John Vianney, pray for them.
Lord Jesus, hear our prayer for the spiritual renewal of bishops, priests, deacons, brothers, sisters, lay ministers and seminarians, especially those of our own diocese. We praise you for giving their ministry to the Church. In these days, renew them with the gifts of Your Spirit. You once opened the Holy Scriptures to Your disciples when You walked on this earth. Now renew Your ordained and chosen ones with the truth and power of Your Word. In the Eucharist, you gave Your disciples renewed life and hope. Nourish Your consecrated ones with Your Own Body and Blood. Help them to imitate in their lives the death and resurrection they celebrate around Your altar. Give them enthusiasm for the Gospel, zeal for the salvation of all people, courage in leadership and humility in service. Give them Your love for one another and for all their brothers and sisters in You. For You love them, Lord Jesus and we love and pray for them in Your Holy Name. Amen. [Note: Some Catholic Dioceses will not approve of this prayer because it appears to promote a secular priesthood of lay deacons and lay ministers. Most Bishops place their emphasis on a clerical priesthood to ensure that the Sacraments will continue to be administered in their Diocese. Lay deacons and lay ministers should be a last resort in cases where there is an extreme shortage of priests.]
O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise Him, all ye people. For His mercy is confirmed upon us and the truth of the Lord remaineth for ever. Glory be... (In Paschal time, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.)
Heavenly Father, since the time of the Apostles you have inspired the Church to commission certain members to assist in a special way in the pastoral mission of Christ. Bless the deacons and all other ordained and non-ordained ministers that they may be humble and faith-inspired in their service. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
O Lord, my God, You renew the Church in every age by raising up priests outstanding in holiness, living witnesses of Your unchanging Love. In Your Plan for our salvation You provide shepherds for Your people. Fill the hearts of young men with the spirit of courage and love that they may answer Your call generously. Give parents the grace to encourage vocations in their family by prayer and good example. Raise up worthy priests for Your Altars and ardent, but gentle servants of the Gospel. Give the Church more priests and keep them faithful in their love and service. May many young men choose to serve You by devoting themselves to the service of Your people. (Author: Rev. Lawrence G. Lovasik, S.V.D.)
Loving Father, I thank You for Your eternal love for me. I thank You for the gifts of Your sacraments, The Eucharist which feeds me, Reconciliation which renews me, and the Sacrament of the Sick which strengthens me and gives me courage. Thank You for our Church and its ministers who bring me Your gifts. I ask You for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. I ask You too, if someone from my own family is called to serve You in this way, that they will hear and generously respond to the call. Let families throughout our Church support them in their answering You. Lord Jesus, I unite my illness and sufferings to Your suffering and death for me on the cross. I offer all to You for my salvation and the salvation of my loved ones. Amen.
¡Û (This day) the Father of light has enlightened the minds of the disciples by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. May He bless you and give you the gifts of the Spirit for ever. ¡Ü Amen! ¡Û May that fire which hovered over the disciples as tongues of flame burn out all evil from your hearts and make them glow with pure light. ¡Ü Amen! ¡Û God inspired speech in different tongues to proclaim one faith. May He strengthen your faith and fulfill your hope of seeing Him face to face. ¡Ü Amen! ¡Û May almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit. ¡Ü Amen!
Heavenly Father, You have chosen us to be Your beloved people, and have gathered us to live in this parish. Be pleased with all our efforts to love You and serve You in word, worship, and work. Give Your + blessings to these members of our parish council and let them be pleasing to You. Guide their activities by the light of Your Spirit, and help them to work for Your honour and glory and for the benefit of all Your people. Father, we praise Your Name for ever and ever. Amen.
Lord, our God, help us to walk with you on the pathway of the beatitudes and to live out your mission in today's world. Bind us to all men and women of our time so that together we may bring the Good News to the ends of the earth. Open our hearts and our Christian communities to the needy, the afflicted, the oppressed. May we radiate the Living Christ and transform our lives in the hope of the Resurrection. This prayer we make to you who are living God now and forever. Amen.
Father, hear our prayers for the salvation of the world. Grant Mercy to all souls that turned away from You. Open their hearts and minds with Your light. Gather Your children from the east and the west, from the north and the south. Have mercy O God on those who do not know You. Bring them out of darkness into Your light. You are our saving God Who leads us in our salvation. Protect us from evil. Bless and praise You O Lord, hear our prayers and answer us. You, our Savior, are the hope of all the ends of the Earth and the distant seas. May Your way be known upon Earth; among all nations Your salvation. We put the world in Your hands; fill us with Your love. Grant us peace through Christ, our Lord. Amen
I
Eternal Father, we praise you for sending your Son to be one of us and to save us. Look upon your people with mercy, for we are divided in so many ways, and give us the Spirit of Jesus to make us one in love. We ask this gift, loving Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.II
Jesus Christ, our Lord and our brother, you have called us to be your one Church. Make us one in our faith and hope, and one in our loving service. Make us one in worship and in daily living. Lord Jesus, send your Spirit to make us one as you want us to be. We ask this, Jesus, for you are our Lord and our saviour for ever. Amen.III
Lord Jesus, Son of God, our brother and our saviour, we give your glory. Protect your Church and make us one. Send your Spirit to guide us and to lead us back to unity and love. Lord Jesus, we praise your holy name for ever. Amen.
Everything that is good has its beginning in You, O God, and from You receives progress towards betterment. We humbly beg of You to provide that by the never failing help of Your fatherly wisdom, this work, begun for the glory of Your name, may be brought to completion, through Christ our Lord.
Heavenly Father, you have given us the model of life in the Holy Family of Nazareth. Help us, O Loving Father, to make our family another Nazareth where love, peace and joy reign. May it be deeply contemplative, intensely eucharistic, revived with joy. Help us to stay together in joy and sorrow in family prayer. Teach us to see Jesus in the members of our families, especially in their distressing disguise. May the eucharistic heart of Jesus make our hearts humble like his and help us to carry out our family duties in a holy way. May we love one another as God loves each one of us, more and more each day, and forgive each other's faults as you forgive our sins. Help us, O Loving Father, to take whatever you give and give whatever you take with a big smile. Immaculate Heart of Mary, cause of our joy, pray for us. St. Joseph, pray for us. Holy Guardian Angels, be always with us, guide and protect us. Amen. (Author: Mother Teresa of Calcutta)
Dear Lord, bless our family. Be so kind as to give us the unity, peace, and mutual love that You found in Your own family in the little town of Nazareth. Saint Joseph, bless the head of our family. Obtain for him the strength, the wisdom, and the prudence he needs to support and direct those under his care. Mother Mary, bless the mother of our family. Help her to be pure and kind, gentle and self-sacrificing. For the more she resembles you, the better will our family be. Lord Jesus, bless the children of our family. Help them to be obedient and devoted to their parents. Make them more and more like You. Let them grow, as You did, in wisdom and age and grace before God and man. Holy Family of Nazareth, make our family and home more and more like Yours, until we are all one family, happy and at peace in our true home with You. Amen.
CHILDREN'S PRAYER FOR PARENTS Dear Lord! Fill our parents with Thy choicest blessings; enrich their souls with Thy holy grace; grant that they may faithfully and constantly guard that likeness to Thy union with Thy Church, which Thou didst imprint upon them on their wedding day. Fill them with Thy spirit of holy fear, which is the beginning of wisdom; inspire them to impart it to their children. May they ever walk in the way of Thy commandments, and may we their children be their joy on earth and their crown of glory in heaven. Finally, Lord God, grant that both our father and mother may attain to extreme old age and enjoy continuous health in mind and body. May they give Thee abundant thanks because Thou bast bestowed upon them the great gift of parenthood. Amen.
O Jesus, Lover of Children, bestow Your Most precious graces on those whom You have confided to our care. Increase in them Faith, Hope and Charity. May Your love lead them to solid piety, inspiring them with dread for sin, love of work and an ardent desire of worthily approaching Your Holy Table. Preserve in them innocence and purity of heart; and if they should offend You, grant them the grace of a prompt and sincere repentance. From Your Tabernacle watch over them day and night; protect them in all their ways. Grant that they may acquire the knowledge that they need to embrace the state of life to which You have called them. Grant us a sincere love, constant vigilance and generous devotedness towards them. Grant us all consolation on earth and eternal reward in heaven.
Lord Jesus, grant that I and my spouse may have a true and understanding love for each other. Grant that we may both be filled with faith and trust. Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony. May we always bear with one another's weaknesses and grow from each other's strengths. help us to forgive one another's failings and grant us patience, kindness, cheerfulness and the spirit of placing the well-being of one another ahead of self. May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each passing year. Bring us both ever closer to You through our love for each other. Let our love grow to perfection. Amen.
Loving Father, have mercy on Your people, and open our hearts to peace and love. Reward all who have died for their country, and grant that Canada and all nations may continue to work for peace and justice. Bless us in Your service, and help us to follow Jesus Christ, who is our Saviour and our Lord for ever and ever. Amen.
O God, I beseech You, watch over those exposed to the horror of war, and the spiritual dangers of a soldier's or sailor's life. Give them such a strong faith that no human respect may ever lead them to deny it, nor fear ever to practice it. By Your grace, O God, fortify them against the contagion of bad example, that being preserved from vice, and serving You faithfully, they may be ready to meet you face to face when they are so called: through Christ our Lord. Amen. Sacred Heart! Inspire them with sorrow for sin, and grant them pardon. Mother of God! Be with them on the battlefield during life and at the hour of death, and grant that they may live and die in the grace of thy Son. Amen. St. Joseph! Pray for them. May their Guardian Angel protect them. Amen.
Lord Jesus, Lover of the sick, Be with (name) in his (her) sickness. Help him (her) to accept this illness As a sharer in your cross, And bring him (her) back to full health. Lord Jesus, We praise You, For You are Lord for ever and ever. Amen.
Grant us, Lord Jesus, always to follow the example of Your holy family, that at the hour of our death Your glorious Virgin Mother with blessed Joseph may come to meet us, and so we may deserve to be received by You into Your everlasting dwelling-place. Amen.
O God, Who has commanded us to honour our father and mother, have compassion in Thy mercy, on the souls of my father and mother; forgive them their sins, and grant that I may see them in the joy of eternal brightness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
You are, O God, quick to pardon and desire man's salvation. In Your goodness we ask You to grant our deceased brothers, relatives, and friends everlasting happiness. With the help of Blessed Mary ever Virgin and all Your saints, we ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
God our Father, on this Feast of Mary, the Mother of God give us an appreciation of the many gift You have given us during the past year. Help us bless You in return during the coming year by sharing some of our gifts with others who have far, far less than we do. Amen.
O God, in Whom we live and move, and have our being, grant us rain, in due abundance, that, being sufficiently helped with temporal, we may the more confidently seek after eternal gifts. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prayer before the rosary
Queen of the Holy Rosary, you have designed to come to Fatima, to reveal to the three shepherd children, the treasures of grace hidden in the Rosary. Inspire my heart with a sincere love of this devotion, in order that by meditating on the Mysteries of our Redemption which are recalled in it, I may obtain peace for the world, the conversion of sinners, and the favor which I ask of you in this Rosary (Mention your request). I ask it for the greater glory of God, for your own honor, and for the good of souls, especially for my own. Amen.Praying the holy rosary

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. STEP 10: The Sign of the Cross:PRAYER AFTER THE ROSARY
O God, whose only-begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech Thee, that, meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
First Station: Jesus is Condemned to Death We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, Because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, The judgment of death pronounced upon Thee, O Jesus, is a sentence full of iniquity: on the part of the Jews who demanded it, on the part of Pilate who pronounced it, and on the part of man, in general, whose sins are the only cause thereof. The righteous suffers instead of the guilty. Hell has lost its rights. The mystery of our justification is accomplished. May I, by a sincere and constant repentance, efficaciously participate therein. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Second Station: Jesus is Made to Bear His Cross We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, Although Jesus is already exhausted with fatigue and pain, and although His strength has abandoned Him, the inhumanity of His executioners takes a cruel pleasure in burdening Him with a heavy cross. The Divine Redeemer offers to His Holy Father this new suffering in order to atone more amply for our sins. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Third Station: Jesus Falls the First Time Under His Cross We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, My Saviour, Thou fallest under the weight of the cross or rather under the burden of my innumerable sins. O divine Jesus, the feebleness of Thy Holy Humanity, eloquently displays the acuteness of the pain which bruised it and the severity of Thy penance. May Thy Divine Grace aid me to walk worthily in Thy footsteps. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Fourth Station: Jesus Meets His Afflicted Mother We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, The eyes of Jesus meet the eyes of Mary. Mary sees the face of her only and adored Son covered with spittle and blood . . . . Jesus sees the face of a tender and beloved Mother bathed in tears more bitter than all the bitterness of death. "My Mother, I leave you and I go to My death, willingly, to save ungrateful man." "Go, my Son, leave Thy Mother, and may Thy death save them all!" Oh, unspeakable martyrdom of maternal love and filial piety! . . . Eternity alone can fathom your extent and price. Henceforth shall I consider any sacrifice on earth too great when offered in expiation of my sins? Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Fifth Station: The Cyrenean Helps Jesus Carry His Cross We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, If Simon, the Cyrenean, is forced to help Jesus to carry His Cross, it is because the malice of hell fears that His faintness may cause death before He reaches the summit of Golgotha, and that so, His enemies may be deprived of the frightful pleasure of seeing Him delivered up to the horrors of the last punishment. O good Cyrenean! I wish to join you, to share your burden, and sympathize with His pains. I wish, above all, to unite myself to Him, to suffer with Him, through Him, and for Him. O Jesus! by this union it is not we who carry Thy Cross; it is Thou Who carriest ours and Who grantest us grace to change it into a tree of life. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. ---------------------
Sixth Station: Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, The insults and reproaches are always increasing. At each step the face of Jesus, which is adored by Angels, gives fresh evidence thereof; at this Veronica became so indignant, that notwithstanding the soldiers and the threatening cries of the crowd, she wished to make amends as well as she could by a public act of courageous piety. O my God! how long will human respect retain my homage captive? No, my Master, no more weakness, no more timidity, regarding Thy service and glory. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Seventh Station: Jesus Falls the Second Time We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, The second fall of our Redeemer under the weight of the Cross should remind us of our falls and relapses into sin. Who can count them? O my soul, arise, hasten to return to God, and be careful not to follow thy own ways. He so often turns away from the true path will fall into the abyss and perish. Let us, then, watch over all our thoughts, all our words, and all our ways. Vigilance is the mother of safety. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Eighth Station: Jesus Speaks to the Daughters of Jerusalem We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, What a consolation for the daughters of Israel to hear, once more, the Voice of their Divine Saviour! "Do not weep for me." O Jesus! to allay our ills, you forget your own. This is a mystery calculated to animate our confidence, notwithstanding our falls. But in order that presumption of lawful confidence, let us listen to this threat: "If the fresh wood is served thus, what will become of the dry?" O my God! may an exact mixture of confidence and fear, henceforward, be the salutary refreshment for my soul. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Ninth Station: Jesus Falls the Third Time We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, When Jesus fell the third time, He was almost on the summit of Calvary. Alas! what a striking picture for those who, after spending many years in piety and fidelity to their duties, lose their crown at the very moment they were about to receive it! What a subject for serious and profound reflection, and what a powerful motive for perseverance! Lord, may this virtue be mine! I beseech Thee for it by all the struggles the laborious paths of Calvary cost Thee. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Tenth Station: Jesus is Stripped of His Garments We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, The Son of the Virgin Mary is stripped of His garments. "My God," said He to His Father by the mouth of the Prophet, "Thou Alone knowest the mystery of my shame and confusion." It is necessary in order to render to the Supreme Majesty the glory of which the pride of man wished to rob Him; it is necessary in order to reinstate man himself in this glory which he has lost through sin. pride took away our garment of innocence, and with it, our dignity and our glory, and true glory will only return to us through profound humiliation and contempt of ourselves. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. ---------------------
Eleventh Station: Jesus is Nailed to the Cross We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, O Jesus, my Divine Redeemer! the hour for Thy Crucifixion has struck. Adorable Victim, I see Thy feet and Thy hands nailed to the stake of Thy Sacrifice! Now the cruelty of the deicides triumphs; it enjoys the tortures of the sufferer, but the Divine Lamb does not give vent to one moan or to one sigh. His unalterable gentleness confounds the barbarity of His enemies. He prays for them, He asks for their forgiveness. He deems Himself happy in suffering for their salvation. Pains, nails, and thorns are His desire, His pleasure, His burning thirst. O Jesus! grant that we may comprehend this thirst and be refreshed by it. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Twelfth Station: Jesus Dies on the Cross We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, My Jesus, my Saviour, my Master, thou diest on the Cross! Oh! how beautiful is Thy death! Thou diest of love! All Thy thoughts, all Thy words, all Thy actions, even to Thy last sigh, are thoughts of love, words of love, actions of love. St. John, Thy well beloved disciple, reveals to us that God is love. O Jesus! Thou art our God, for Thou art all love. At His last sigh, all creatures published His sovereign power; the earth trembled, the heavens were clothed in mourning. O my God! It is by the practice of Christian perfection that I, Thy disciple, am to show that Thou art God, and the King of my heart. Help me, O Jesus! without Thee I can nothing. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Thirteenth Station: Jesus is Taken Down from the Cross We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, O Holy Mother! who can fathom this mystery of desolation into which thy heart, so tender and so loving, is plunged? It is not by one sword only that Mary is transpierced; I see as many buried in her soul as there are instruments in the Passion of her Son; and yet, I behold her in the attitude of the most perfect resignation, because she wishes, above all things, to accomplish the will of her God, despite the bitterness of the cup. She knows that at the bottom of the cup the salvation of the world is deposited, and in our interest, she does not wish one drop to be lost. O afflicted heart of Mary! I have been the cause of thy sorrows; thou wilt, henceforward, be the object of my most tender and most constant devotion. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus. --------------------- Fourteenth Station: Jesus is Placed in the Sepulchre We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world. Let us pray, The hatred of the deicides is satisfied. . . . Jesus is in the Sepulchre. His voice, which condemned vice and launched ananthemas against hardened sinners, need no longer be feared. Death has chilled His tongue forever. Thus gloried the Jews; thus still glory the impious and decides of our day. For them, Jesus is no more. . . . He is a lifeless God. You are mistaken; you are wilfully blind . . . Jesus Christ lives and reigns forever and ever. His death is regeneration, it is life, eternal life. If we wish to imbibe abundantly of this immortal life in His Adorable Blood, let us not cease to meditate, to contemplate, to bless His Passion and Death. Holy Mother, deign to impress upon my heart the wounds of my crucified Jesus.
Litany for the souls in purgatory
The just shall be in everlasting remembrance; He shall not fear the evil hearing. V. Absolve, O Lord, the souls of the faithful departed from every bond of sin, R. And by the help of Thy grace may they be enabled to escape the avenging judgment, and to enjoy the happiness of eternal life. Because in Thy mercy are deposited the souls that departed in an inferior degree of grace, Lord, have mercy. Because their present suffering is greatest in the knowledge of the pain that their separation from Thee is causing Thee, Lord, have mercy. Because of their present inability to add to Thy accidental glory, Lord, have mercy. Not for our consolation, O Lord; not for their release from purgative pain, O God; but for Thy joy and the greater accidental honor of Thy throne, O Christ the King, Lord, have mercy. For the souls of our departed friends, relations and benefactors, grant light and peace, O Lord. For those of our family who have fallen asleep in Thy bosom, O Jesus, grant light and peace, O Lord. For those who have gone to prepare our place, grant light and peace, O Lord. (For those who were our brothers [or sisters] in Religion,) grant light and peace, O Lord. For priests who were our spiritual directors, grant light and peace, O Lord. For men or women who were our teachers in school, grant light and peace, O Lord. For those who were our employers (or employees), grant light and peace, O Lord. For those who were our associates in daily toil, grant light and peace, O Lord. For any soul whom we ever offended, grant light and peace, O Lord. For our enemies now departed, grant light and peace, O Lord. For those souls who have none to pray for them, grant light and peace, O Lord. For those forgotten by their friends and kin, grant light and peace, O Lord. For those now suffering the most, grant light and peace, O Lord. For those who have acquired the most merit, grant light and peace, O Lord. For the souls next to be released from Purgatory, grant light and peace, O Lord. For those who, while on earth, were most devoted to God the Holy Ghost, to Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, to the holy Mother of God, grant light and peace, O Lord. For all deceased popes and prelates, grant light and peace, O Lord. For all deceased priests, seminarians and religious, grant light and peace, O Lord. For all our brethren in the Faith everywhere, grant light and peace, O Lord. For all our separated brethren who deeply loved Thee, and would have come into Thy household had they known the truth, grant light and peace, O Lord. For those souls who need, or in life asked, our prayers, grant light and peace, O Lord. For those, closer to Thee than we are, whose prayers we need, grant light and peace, O Lord. That those may be happy with Thee forever, who on earth were true exemplars of the Catholic Faith, grant them eternal rest, O Lord. That those may be admitted to Thine unveiled Presence, who as far as we know never committed mortal sin, grant them eternal rest, O Lord. That those may be housed in glory, who lived always in recollection and prayer, grant them eternal rest, O Lord. That those may be given the celestial joy of beholding Thee, who lived lives of mortification and self-denial and penance, grant them eternal rest, O Lord. That those may be flooded with Thy love, who denied themselves even Thy favors of indulgence and who made the heroic act for the souls who had gone before them, grant them eternal rest, O Lord. That those may be drawn up to the Beatific Vision, who never put obstacles in the way of sanctifying grace and who ever drew closer in mystical union with Thee, grant them eternal rest, O Lord. V. Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord, R. And let perpetual light shine upon them. Let Us Pray Be mindful, O Lord, of Thy servants and handmaids, N. and N., who are gone before us with the sign of faith and repose in the sleep of grace. To these, O Lord, and to all who rest in Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, a place of refreshment, light and peace, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen
Let us pray O God, whose only-begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation; grant, we beseech you, that meditating upon these mysteries in the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise.
